Robert Townsend and I have just got back from HPE Discover in Las Vegas, and I wanted to share some thoughts while they’re still fresh. These big industry events can sometimes feel overwhelming, but this one really delivered on substance.
Firstly, I would like to thank Jack Johnson and Adam Jennings for hosting us, you guys must be ready for a holiday after a week like that! Also, the wider UK HPE team whom we spent time with, Chris Greenwood, Heather Walls and Matt Harris, what a team we have supporting us in the UK!
We’ve been working closely with HPE for many years now, and clarity of vision around hybrid cloud, AI, and cyber resilience was in full view. What I appreciate most is how aligned we are in helping customers navigate real challenges, rather than just selling them the latest shiny technology.
The conversations we had reinforced something we already knew: our clients need partners who understand that transformation isn’t just about tech specs. It’s about making their businesses more resilient, efficient, and ready for whatever comes next.
The Standout Moments & Breakout Sessions: Key Highlights from HPE Discover 2025
A few things really caught our attention:
HPE Cyber Resilience Vaultbreakout session hosted by @Sasha Acosta and @Shariq Aqil was a big draw for us. We recently delivered a CRV project for a public sector client, and seeing how HPE is evolving this platform to tackle modern ransomware threats was genuinely exciting. The session was co-hosted with Adam Janssens, an actual user of Cyber Resilience Vault, who provided a fantastic firsthand account of how CRV is helping protect services at the Western Canada Lottery Corp. We had the pleasure of chatting with Adam several times in various bars around the venue, and not only is he very knowledgeable, he is also a great guy to have a beer with (Thanks, Adam!)
HPE Morpheus VM Essentials breakout session impressed us as a straightforward answer to a common problem – managing VMs and hybrid workloads without the usual complexity. Sometimes the best solutions are the ones that just work.
The Private Cloud offerings – especially the AI-focused versions – opened up some interesting possibilities. These aren’t just infrastructure plays; they’re conversation starters about how our clients can actually use their data more intelligently.
HPE Alletra MP X10000 is clearly built for organizations serious about AI workloads. The performance specs are impressive, but what matters is whether it can handle real-world AI training and inference at scale. We had some good conversations with the guys hosting.
But here’s what really got my attention: Agentic AI in GreenLake. The idea of AI agents acting as digital teammates – proactively solving problems using HPE’s own telemetry data – feels like a genuine leap forward. It’s not just automation; it’s intelligent infrastructure that learns and adapts. It strongly demonstrates HPE’s commitment to advancing AI use in the most obvious way; they have clearly developed their own use cases internally to help deliver a better experience for their customers, across their entire platform, from hardware to OpsRamp!
Antonio Neri’s Vision: Ambition, Ai, And Innovation
The keynote in the Las Vegas Sphere was quite something. Antonio Neri’s message about AI making ambitions a reality resonated because it mirrors what we’re seeing with our own clients. Everyone has big ideas, but execution is where things get tricky.
His point about ambition being the defining element of human innovation, with AI now accelerating that reality – that’s not just marketing speak. It’s exactly what we’re helping our clients navigate every day. We are running AI workshops for such a varied array of clients with such diverse use cases. Every week, we are sitting down with people and simply asking, “What can we help make better?”
Looking Forward
HPE Discover is such a well-thought-out and well-run event with so much to see and learn about that we could have spent a week there. We came away with concrete ideas about how to better serve our clients and a clearer picture of where the industry is heading. The AI era isn’t coming – it’s here. Our job is to help our customers move forward with confidence, knowing they have the right security, infrastructure, and support in place.
Las Vegas was inspiring, but now comes the real work of turning those conversations into results for our clients. So, if you’re exploring how HPE’s evolving technologies – from Cyber Resilience Vault to GreenLake AI – can help secure and modernise your IT estate, Nexstor’s expert team can guide your strategy.
